Raglan, New Zealand, has become a famous stop on the worldwide surfing circuit. Skyline Rotorua – The Luge was invented in Rotorua and this gravity fuelled activity is still going strong. Race your way down the sides of Mount Ngongotaha and then enjoy the views on the chairlift back to the top. Grab lunch at the Market Kitchen or indulge yourself with wine tasting at Volcanic Hills, or if that’s not enough adrenaline, take it up a notch with the Skyswing or Zoom Ziplines.
Raft the Kaituna River – Rotorua is home to the world’s highest commercially rafted waterfall, the Tutea Falls. Tackle the rapids of the Kaituna River, and then brace yourself for the big drop! Mountain Biking – Rotorua is home to some of the best mountain biking in the world. The pros rave about the trails here, but it’s not all hardcore – there’s something to suit even the least adventurous riders. Waipa Mountain Bike Car Park is a great place to start with coffee, food and bike hire at Mountain Bike Rotorua and even hot tubs at Secret Spot for a bit of post-ride indulgence or recharge.
Redwoods Altitude – Have a head for heights? Challenge yourself at Redwoods Altitude and bring out your inner Tarzan! This is the next level up the adrenaline scale from the now famous Redwoods Treewalk. Wind your way up the spiral staircase and take to the treetops on a course of bridges, ziplines and cargo nets.
Scope café is centrally located on Tutanekai Street and is an ideal place to fuel up for your adventures. You’ll struggle to choose between the mouth-watering menu and the tasty treats in the cabinet, so make sure you arrive with an appetite!
